2015-02-25: Quintessential Swiss

Cultural Observations: The Swiss

The Swiss are unscrupulous bastards. Sure they play all nice with their "oh it is for privacy reasons" and "hey we have chocolate" but it's a ruse!

They intend to buy all the worlds culture and claim it as their own.

Most people won't have noticed this yet as they are doing it carefully and quietly.

Poland has a quintessential chocolate treat. Invented by a Polish chap (Mr Wedel) a few years back it is a very light meringue covered in chocolate. Actually I am going to say enrobed in chocolate. Makes it sound cooler.
Equal shelf space is given to the imposter!

It really is distinct and it is very popular here. Wedel in fact has exclusive rights to the name "Ptasie mleczko" in Poland and it is trademarked in the EU. I think this might be one of the first things I have found that Poles consider to be essential Polish but I haven't seen on any lists.

This was going to be taken to Japan for gifting purposes. Have to buy some more I guess.
Ptasie mleczko literally translates to "Birds Milk" but more realistically is a blend of "Rare as Hens Teeth" and "Ambrosia" concepts.
His and Her trays?
There is a slight issue with it as the lightness means a tray is too damn easy to inhale by accident. Fortunately each box has two trays.
Even the box imagery is a copy!
Milka (a swiss company) has attempted to steal market share of the sweet sweet candy by producing a competing product. Alpine Milk. It's not as good but it is very close.

Rating: 6/10 (Ewa even thought the Milka product was called Ptasie mleczko which shows how good their subtle attack has been)

I forgive the Swiss so long as they keep supplying raclette cookers and cheese (and of course all these brands and products are owned by amorphous blobs that own everything and no longer have the cultural basis anyway).
