2015-01-10: Oh Lord, The Pain Is Real

One of the few bits of my body which do not look decrepit is my calves. Almost all the things I do use calf muscles extensively and they have survived the ageing process in reasonably good shape.

Apparently skiing uses calf muscles differently, mine are quite sore.

But that isn't the pain. I have a Polish Princess in Pain. She is refusing to leave the bed. I am blaming the Highland Man and his booze.
Town Centre Horsies have carriages now

However it is raining today so a quick stroll into town for some food will be fine. Skiing would be impossible I think.

Food And Beverage Review: McDonalds Polish Burgers

McDonalds has 3 vaguely interesting items and we both feel bad enough that eating here can be done today without making us feel any worse. Well not much worse anyway.
The burgers are basically a McFeast without the beetroot and with a signature item. The bun has a token attempt at having burned cheese on the top.

Drwala (Lumberjack) Burger. Has a "patty" of deep fried cheese and a slightly spicy japaleno sauce.
Goralski (Highlander) Burger. Has a deep fried mashed potato croquette and mayonaise.
Deep fried Camembert. Is camembert, deep fried.
The Goralski (I might have got these backwards) is not very good at all. McDonalds has no real texture to the meat and the gluey potato just made it worse. The Drwala is actually not bad. The sauce gives it some flavour and the cheese is gooey. This could be just by comparison though.

The deep fried Camembert was pretty good. Would have been better with a plum dipping sauce or something.

All up this cost some 35 złoty (say AU$10). Given that there is good canteen food 3 minutes walk away where that much money would get you a kilo of food I don't understand why anyone else was in there. And they don't serve beer.

Rating: 1/10. Not doing again.

There is a more traditional Polish burger place which we might visit another day for comparison. Today I think a couple of salads in bed will be an offering accepted by the Princess.

Playground safety issues are of a lower concern here I think
I think the ducks are happy about the rain as it seems to have broken up the ice in the stream a bit. I have had a great time watching them fly down in a 4 duck diamond formation and obviously intend on landing but half of them have to peel off due to ice.
Needs another runway
Plans: Weather Contingent.
  • Go back and terrify people on the slopes and surprise the instructor with creative solutions to problems.
  • Maybe go do some horse riding, Ewa reckons they are inside so we could do some basic stuff before we forget everything we learned.
  • There is an aqua park up the road, I am becoming a connoisseur of water parks.
Oh Joseph it ain't that bad you know.
