2015-04-08: Why Make It Easy When You Can Make it An Event

I have been relating my wisdom to people online for many years. On many topics. In various degrees of coherence. I think of it as a Public Service.
One of the places I pass on my wisdom is a small Economics forum. Today one of my fellow denizens of the forum is meeting up with us for dinner.
Honest Friendly People. Also sober at this point.
For some reason we decided to meet in Nagoya despite having lived a couple hours drive away from each other in Australia for the majority of the 5 or 6 years we have known each other online.
When I advertise fireworks I like to include lots of technical information.
We have been in Nagoya almost 3 weeks so we are the perfect people to show off the attractions of Nagoya.

Tourist Checklist: Manhole Covers

Pretty sure this is the correct way up (now)
Aside from Sonic Death Monkey, which is still favourite so far, I have this humble collection.
I think we have checked off all the Tourist Items on this handy checklist
For some reason Japan has lots of mildly interesting manhole covers.
Oh Arty! Except I'll probably find out this is actually porn.
And Japanese people have a mild interest in taking photos of them.
Sort of minimalist I guess
I have joined in.
Cat Signal!
But we didn't force this activity on our guests, they will thank us later.
Tsuwano's little carp canals

Rating: 7/10 (Not sure why I find it mildly amusing but I do and it don't hurt no one)

They have been travelling around doing walking tours and for some reason I can't work out have not been taken to an Izakaya.
He brought a souvenir knife. I assume souvenir rather than defensive weaponry for the evening.
Not being one to leave things to chance (and possibly being a little excessive) I commenced our Tour Of Nagoya with Eel and Beer at an Izakaya in the bowels of the station.
We walked through the Oh we can Kick Your Arse at Your Stuff section of the food court
After several hours I think we were being given a hint to leave so we went to the Tiger Bar (here) for Wings and Beer.
Fortunately it was quiet enough and we didn't get lost in the crowds
Moved on to Meat Bye (here and here) for Meat, Salad and Beer. After a surprisingly few hours we were advised it was last drinks.
So we moved on to our favourite Izakaya for Sushi, Miso Katsu and Beer (here and here and here a few others as well).
When they closed we went to the 7/11 for beer and showed off our palacious mansion.
Rants and Stories took the place of photos for the evening.
Rating? I think I give us a 9.5/10 as Ambassadors for Nagoya. We should probably get a job with the Tourism People.
